With a view to honouring practical benefits, flexibility and sustainable values of cycling, the United Nations declares June 3 as World Bicycle Day, through which the organisation calls on its members to encourage cycling in their countries to improve health, protect the environment and spur socio-economic growth.
The global online accommodation reservation provider Agoda has listed the ancient city of Hoi An as one of the world’s six best places to explore by bicycle.
The bicycle has and will continue to play an important role in the life of Vietnamese both in the past, at present and in the future, said a Vietnamese diplomat at the first celebration of World Bicycle Day held by the UN on June 3 in New York.
