Workshop to promote application of IT in diplomacy

A two-day workshop on digital diplomacy, opened in Hanoi on October 27, is seen as a good start for the Government to promote on-line public relations.

BritishAmbassador Mark Kent was among the optimists in this regard at theworkshop after praising Vietnam for its numerous successes in promotingits national image through people-to-people and cultural diplomacy.

Also among the participants was Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen QuocCuong, who emphasised that the Vietnamese Government attaches greatimportance to the development of Information Technology (IT).

“The Government is working hard to turn Vietnam into an IT power soon,” said the diplomat.

He added that one of the important tasks set by the Government was to facilitate the use of IT by public agencies.

“The Foreign Ministry is paying special attention to the application ofIT and the use of the internet in foreign relations as well as inpromoting its national image”, concluded the deputy minister./.
