Workshop to boost corporate environment protection

Representatives of the Institute ofEcology and Environment and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industryagreed that enterprises, especially private ones, have an importantrole in environmental protection activities.

Strengthening thecorporate link in environmental protection will help ensure thesustainable development for both enterprises and the community, theysaid.

David John Champion, Managing Director of Bayer VietnamLtd., said his company has always paid due attention to fulfillingcorporate’s social responsibilities, including protecting theenvironment.

This spirit is well reflected in Bayer’s activitiesover the past five years, especially its programme on selecting 80environment ambassadors, who are best-performing students in writing anddrawing competitions.

EasybizVietnam, a joint stock company ofVietnam’s 3Cdotcom and Denmark’s EB Global, have been providingconsultancy for local enterprises on the use of energy efficient lights,recycled paper, construction of hygienic WCs and dining rooms forworkers using environmentally friendly materials.

The workshop isjointly held by the Global Convention Network of Vietnam (GCNV) and thealliance of Vietnam non-governmental organisations.

Founded in2007, the GCNV is an alliance of enterprises, NGOs, governmentalagencies, universities and institutes in Vietnam. It aims to promotefulfilment of social responsibilities and human rights activities,improve labour conditions, protect the environment and combatcorruption./.

🦄 Vietnam pioneers use of AI and remote sensing to monitor seawater quality

According to Dr. Vu Anh Tuan, Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Space Centre and head of the project, this is the first study in Vietnam to simultaneously employ Sentinel-2 satellite data, advanced machine learning algorithms, and the Google Earth Engine (GEE) cloud computing platform to model and monitor key seawater quality parameters.

In 2019, Quang Ninh became one of the first localities in Vietnam to launch a province-wide campaign against plastic waste, mobilising the participation of the political system, the business sector, and the general public. Other localities—such as Hai Phong, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Ho Chi Minh City—have also effectively implemented waste-sorting initiatives at source, along with models for plastic-free markets and urban areas.
