Speakingat the event, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam – Southeast AsiaFriendship Association Phan Thi Hong Xuan said although ASEAN set cleareducation goals in 2015, the results remain relatively modest. Sheattributed such to the large education gap among member states, the lack ofcollaboration among education organisations, and challenges in recognition ofcertifications and internationalisation of degrees in the region. In orderto improve the efficiency of international cooperation, participants suggested theVietnamese universities closely pursue five regional education goals, includingenhancing accreditation up to standards of the ASEAN University Network,opening training courses to grant certificates recognised by ASEANuniversities, and increasing the exchange of culture and students betweenVietnamese and ASEAN universities. MalaysianConsul General in Ho Chi Minh City Wong Chia Chiann said each ASEAN memberstate is striving to fulfill strategic goals mentioned in the Declaration onASEAN Community Vision 2025, adding that the movement in ASEAN as well as in theworld and mutual reliance among multicultural nations in education are becomingincreasingly important. Apartfrom necessary skills and knowledge, ASEAN leaders play a significant role in promotingeducation in the principle of understanding in diversity, she said./.
Vietnamese expatriates have joined 33 other foreign communities in the Czech Republic’s Ustecky province at the biggest local annual multicultural exchange festival.
