Hai Phong (VNA) – Theconstruction of a bridge spanning Hoa River and linking the northern port cityof Hai Phong to neighbouring Thai Binh province began on May 9.
The 254.1m-long and 12m-widebridge will be built at a cost of over 185 billion VND (7.9 million USD), ofwhich 182 billion VND are sourced from Hai Phong’s budget and the remainingfrom Thai Binh’s.
The project is expected to be putinto use in late 2019, shortening the distance between Hai Phong and ThaiBinh’s coastal area by more than 30km and easing traffic pressure on nationalhighway 10.
In the first year of operation,it is forecast to serve 300 vehicles per day. The number of vehicles is likelyincrease to over 1,000, thanks largely to the opening of a Lavifood vegetableand fruit processing plant in Tien Lang district, Hai Phong, in 2020.
The plant will turn the area intoa farm produce processing hub of the northern coastal region, consisting ofQuang Ninh, Hai Phong, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, and Ninh Binh.-VNA
