Hanoi (VNA) – Grandmaster Le QuangLiem beat 2021 FIDE World Cup champion Jan-Krzysztof Duda for the second timein four months at the FTX Crypto Cup on August 18.
After the victory, which helped him bag a reward of 7,500USD, the grandmaster will face “chess king” Magnus Carlsen in the fourth round of thetournament.

Vietnamese Grandmaster Le Quang Liem has been back on the International Chess Federation (FIDE) standard chess ranking after two-year absence as he had not competed in this category internationally since 2020.
Top-ranked Vietnamese grandmaster Le Quang Liem won the Grandmaster Triathlon title at the Biel International Chess Festival in Switzerland after holding direct rival Andrey Esipenko to a draw in the last round on July 22.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
