Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on November 14afternoon hosted a welcome ceremony for his New Zealand counterpart JacindaArdern who is on an official visit to Vietnam until November 17.
Following the ceremony, the two leaders held talks.
This is the first official visit to Vietnam by PM Ardernsince she took office in 2017.

During the visit, PM Ardern is scheduled to make a courtesycall on Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, meet President Nguyen XuanPhuc and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue, take part in a businessdialogue between the two countries, participate in an event on agriculturalconnectivity, and visit Ho Chi Minh City.
The trip is expected to help enhance political trust andmultifaceted cooperation between the two countries in such fields as politics -diplomacy, defence - security, economy, investment, labour, education,technology, climate change, and digital transformation./.
Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern’s official visit to Vietnam from November 14-17 at the invitation of Prime Minister Pham Minh is expected to further deepen Strategic Partnership between the two countries.
The visit by Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is an important opportunity to reaffirm and build on the strategic partnership between New Zealand and Vietnam, NZ Ambassador to Vietnam Tredene Dobson said in an interview granted to the Vietnam News Agency ahead of the visit.
The Vietnam visit by New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern is expected to create a new impetus and development momentum for the successful implementation of the goals and aspirations set out by the framework of Vietnam-New Zealand strategic partnership, stated Vietnamese Ambassador to New Zealand Nguyen Van Trung.

During the negotiations, the US highly evaluated Vietnam’s goodwill and efforts, affirmed its appreciation for the bilateral relationship, acknowledged Vietnam’s proposals and concerns, and considered these an important basis for continuing discussions and moving towards a final agreement.
The Chairman stressed the need for stricter fiscal discipline, faster digital transformation, and more efficient management of State budget revenues and expenditures.
