Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted Google’sPresident of Asia-Pacific Operations Karim Temsamani on September 12 on thesidelines of the 2018 World Economic Forum on ASEAN (WEF ASEAN).
Appreciating Google’s cooperation in Vietnam over the past fewyears, Phuc said that with a population of nearly 100 million people, Vietnamholds great potential in developing information technology (IT) and considersit a spearhead field in the nation’s process of industrialisation andmodernisation.
Therefore, Vietnam is a promising market for Google, heemphasised.
In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, the PMasked Google to pay attention to maintaining Vietnam’s cultural identity whileoperating in Vietnam.
He hailed Google’s effective coordination with theVietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications in building a process ofaddressing Vietnamese law violations on Google.
He expressed his hope for Google’s continued cooperation indeveloping IT in Vietnam, especially in terms of startups and human resourcestraining.
Temsamani, in turn, affirmed Google’s willingness to supportVietnam during the digitalisation of the economy.
In the Vietnam Digital 4.0 Programme, Google set a target ofproviding free training on digital skills for 500,000 small- and medium-sizedVietnamese enterprises by 2020 to help them improve competitiveness and gain morebusiness opportunities in the digital economy, he said.
Google will carry out initiatives to help Vietnamese farmersdigitalise agricultural production, and support people who work in innovationand manufacturing fields to effectively promote products on Google’s Youtubechannel.
He vowed that Google will contribute more towards building atechnological eco-system in Vietnam.–VNA
