WB predicts continued growth for Cambodia

Cambodia will see its economy expand by 7.2 percent in 2014 and 7.5 percent in the next year, the World Bank said in its latest economic report.
Cambodia will see its economy expand by 7.2 percent in 2014 and 7.5percent in the next year, the World Bank said in its latest economicreport.

The growth will facilitate the country’sefforts in poverty reduction and improving local living standards, theWB representative in Cambodia said.

According to WB, the garment sector will be the key engine of growth, followed by construction, finance, and banking.

However, Cambodia ’s economy could be affected by employmentshortage, floods, dropping rice prices, and political security mattersin the region.

The report said it is advisable forthe country to boost investment in other realms such as tourism,agriculture, and human resources training towards sustainable growth.-VNA
