Vietnam attaches importance to strengthening cooperation withKazakhstan in the energy sector in general and the oil and gas fieldin particular, the Vietnamese State President said.
President Truong Tan Sang made the affirmation at the talks with hisKazakh counterpart Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana capital on Sept. 10during his official State visit to Kazakhstan, which started onSept. 9 and will run through Sept. 11.
Regarding the issue,President Sang added that Vietnam welcomes and will create favourableconditions for Kazakhstan businesses to explore and produce oil andgas in Vietnam.
President Nazarbayev voiced hissupport for Vietnam’s proposals on energy cooperation, including oiland gas exploration and production both in Kazakhstan and Vietnam.
Hesuggested the acceleration of goods exchange and investment developmentand reached agreement with President Sang on speeding up trade andinvestment promotion, exchanges of visits of businesses and the sharingof policy and market information.
The KazakhPresident welcomed Sang’s first visit to Kazakhstan, underlining itssignificant importance in furthering the traditional friendship andmultifaceted cooperation between the two countries, especially at a timewhen they are celebrating the 20 th anniversary of their diplomaticties.
The two Presidents informed each other of thesituation in their respective country, exchanged views on bilateralcooperation as well as regional and international issues of mutualconcern.
The two leaders expressed their deep satisfactionat the dynamic development of traditional friendship and cooperationbetween the two countries over the last two decades, and reiterated thedetermination of the two nations’ leaders and people to continueconsolidating and enhancing the ties.
They agreed tomaintain regular exchanges of delegations at all levels, especially at ahigh level as well as the organisation of cultural days to strengthenpolitical trust and traditional friendship and create conditions topromote bilateral ties, especially economic, trade and investmentcooperation.
The two leaders also focused on discussingmeasures to increase trade exchange and investment in economics, trade,energy, consumer goods production, transport, tourism, agriculture andmining.
They agreed to fully implement theVietnam-Kazakhstan action plan in the 2011-2013 period and increase theeffectiveness of the Vietnam-Kazakhstan Inter-governmental Committee onEconomic, Trade and Science-Technology Cooperation.
Both leaders welcomed active preparations made by Vietnam and theKazakhstan-Russia-Belarus Customs Union for the establishment of theirfree trade area (FTA).
They said they believe thatthe future FTA will bring about practical benefits to all concernedsides, helping Vietnam implement its 2011-2020 socio-economicdevelopment strategy and Kazakhstan realise its 2030 strategy.
Both leaders expressed their pleasure at the coordination andmutual support the two countries had for each other at the UnitedNations, regional and international forums and organisations for peace,stability, cooperation and development in Asia and the world.
PresidentSang highly valued Kazakhstan ’s role in establishing andconsolidating the Conference on Interaction and Confidence BuildingMeasures in Asia (CICA). He congratulated the Kazakh President on the 20th founding anniversary of the conference.
President Nazarbayevspoke highly of Vietnam ’s role in multi-mechanisms in Asia , such asthe Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), the Asian RegionalForum (ARF) and the East Asia Summit (EAS).
He saidhe believes that with Vietnam ’s support, cooperation betweenKazakhstan with ASEAN in particular and the CICA with the associationin general will be strengthened for peace, stability and development.
Thetwo leaders affirmed that all disputes arising in the Asia-Pacificregion should be solved peacefully, without the use of force or threatto use force, and in accordance with international law and the UNCharter.
Nazarbayev said that Kazakhstan will open its embassy inVietnam soon, for which he received President Sang’s welcome and pledgeto create all favourable conditions he can for the Kazakh embassy’ssmooth operation.
At the talks, President Sang thanked Kazakhleaders and authorities at all levels for assisting the Vietnamesecommunity in Kazakhstan .
He expressed hisbelief that the community will continue receiving due attentions fromthe Kazakh side and serve as a bridge for the further development of thetwo countries’ friendship and cooperation.
Both leaders agreedthat President Sang’s visit, amidst the celebrations of the 20 thanniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties will contributeimportantly to consolidating and strengthening bilateral cooperation anddeveloping the ties deeply and substantially in the future.

Afterthe talks, the two Presidents witnessed the signing of agreements onflora quarantine, aviation transport, and other cooperation documents inthe banking sector and local linkages.

Whilemeeting with the press following the talks, President Sang said hissuccessful talks with President Nazarbayev upheld the spirit ofbuilding, trust and mutual understanding.
“We affirmed ourleaders and people’s desires as well as determinations to elevateVietnam-Kazakhstan cooperation in a broad and comprehensive manner.
