Vinh Long (VNA) – Leadersof the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long pledged to stay side by side withenterprises during a gathering with local businesspeople on February 15.

Permanent Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Le Quang Trung affirmed that the province willissue clear guidance on new policies to facilitate businesses’ operations,encourage business households to switch their status to enterprises, and holdregular dialogues with them to promptly clear any arising barriers.

In order to improve theprovincial competitiveness, a public administrative centre will be put intooperation this year.

He asked firms to pay attentionto environmental protection, lives and legitimate interests of workers and socialwelfare programmes in the province.

Local statistics showed thatthere were 351 newly-established firms with total registered capital of over 3trillion VND (130.4 million USD) last year. Meanwhile, the total investment forsocial development surpassed 13 billion VND.

In 2019, Vinh Long will focus onrestructuring its economy in combination with renewing growth model andimproving growth quality and labour output.

It will take synchronous measuresto restructure agriculture in tandem with new rural development, build amanufacturing and consumption chain for key farm produce, and call forinfrastructure investment in industrial zones.-VNA
