Tokyo (VNA) – The women’s union of the Vietnamese Embassy in Japan showcased some of Vietnam's traditional products at a charity fair held by the Asia-Pacific Ladies Friendship Society (ALFS) in Tokyo on April 23.

The event was one of the ALFS’s biggest annual activities, aiming to raise funds in support of women and children in ALFS member countries, popularise the countries' images, and increase cultural exchanges.

This year, the fair featured 23 booths from embassies in Tokyo and 22 others from Japanese localities and enterprises. It saw the participation of the spouse of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, Princess Hitachinomiya Hanako, ALFS President Mariko Nakasone, and ambassadors and their spouses.

As an active ALFS member, the women’s union of the Vietnamese Embassy has participated in the fair for years, contributing to charity work and helping disadvantaged students in remote areas of Vietnam with the funds raised.

The Vietnamese booth attracted visitors with traditional products, handicrafts, and spices such as dried fruits, wool knitwear, jewellery, cinnamon, and star anise.

The ALFS was established in 1968 under the auspices of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote exchanges, strengthen friendship, and contribute to social welfare.

𓆉 It gathers about 500 members including the spouses of former Prime Ministers, former foreign ministers, politicians, and diplomats of Japan, along with ambassadors and their spouses from 26 Asia-Pacific countries in Tokyo./.
