Vietnam’s top leaders have sent flower baskets and messages of congratulations to their Lao counterparts on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (September 5) and 40 years of the signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18).

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s top leaders have sent flower baskets and messages ofcongratulations to their Lao counterparts on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties (September 5) and 40 years ofthe signing of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation (July 18).

Vietnam’sAmbassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung on July 17 handed over the flower baskets andmessages of congratulations of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong,President Tran Dai Quang, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National AssemblyChairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan to Party General Secretary and PresidentBounhang Volachith, Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and NA Chairwoman PanyYathotou of Laos via the Lao Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Laos’Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommasith thanked the Vietnamese senior leaders and affirmedthat over the past 55 years, the Vietnam-Laos relations have recordedoutstanding developments in all fields.

TheForeign Ministry of Laos pledges to work with its counterpart and the Embassy ofVietnam in Laos to nurture and intensify the bilateral ties, he added.

AmbassadorHung said that amid complicated and unpredictable regional and global situations,the two countries should maintain close coordination to bring their relationsto a new height in order to meet their people’s aspirations and interests.

Hevowed to collaborate with the Lao Foreign Ministry in organising activities incelebration of the Laos-Vietnam Friendship and Solidarity Year 2017.
