Vietnam’s successful application of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought spotlighted

The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has creatively and flexibly applied Marxism-Leninism, tailoring it to the country’s specific conditions, while enriching and perfecting the Ho Chi Minh Thought, offering innovative theories on Vietnam’s transition to socialism, the socialist-oriented market economy, and the rule-of-law state in Vietnam, affirmed scholars attending the recent 11th International Forum on Socialism in Vientiane.

Vientiane (VNA) - The Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) has creatively and flexibly applied Marxism-Leninism, tailoring it to the country’s specific conditions, while enriching and perfecting the Ho Chi Minh Thought, offering innovative theories on Vietnam’s transition to socialism, the socialist-oriented market economy, and the rule-of-law state in Vietnam, affirmed scholars attending the recent 11th International Forum on Socialism in Vientiane.

Professor Dr. Ta Minh Tuan, Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS), highlighted that for nearly 40 years, Vietnam has gradually refined Marxist theory to suit its unique characteristics. The key components of this development include the socialist-oriented market economy, the construction of a socialist law-governed State, and socialist democracy. These three pillars form the backbone of Vietnam’s current socialist path, he held.

Tuan emphasised that the socialist rule-of-law State in Vietnam is one of the people, by the people, and for the people, with the people as the core and foundation of all developments. Economic development with a socialist orientation is essential to ensuring the well-being and happiness of the people, guaranteeing their both material and spiritual welfare, he stated, adding that this makes Vietnam’s socialist orientation distinct from those of other countries.

Regarding socialist democracy, Tuan referred to Decisions 27 and 28 of the Politburo which emphasise the people’s mastery as well as people’s rights to know, discuss, act, monitor, supervise, and enjoy the fruits of development, like what is stated in the 13th National Party Congress’ Resolution. Democracy has been a driving force for the country’s solidarity, while promoting the whole nation’s strengths through the Vietnam Fatherland Front and other socio-political organisations.

The scholar also pointed out that under the guidance of the new theory and vision, Vietnam has gained remarkable achievements over nearly four decades.

The VASS leader said that Vietnam's aspirations to become an industrialised, prosperous, and democratic nation rely on solid theoretical foundations. This is a major contribution by Vietnam in updating Marxism and advancing the socialist model, he asserted.

Speaking to the Vietnam News Agency, Professor He Qin from Academic Division of Marxism, Institute of Contemporary China Studies under the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said that since the launch of Vietnam’s Doi Moi (Renewal), the country has developed a localised and modernised Marxist theory carrying the country’s unique characteristics. She affirmed that the Communist Party of Vietnam has continuously enriched and refined Ho Chi Minh Thought, offering creative solutions for Vietnam’s socialist transition, market economy, and rule-of-law State.

🐷 These achievements demonstrate that Vietnam’s steadfast application of Marxism-Leninism and Ho Chi Minh Thought in practice has led to significant successes. By continuously adapting the theory to fit the needs of each development phase, Vietnam has overcome challenges and propelled the nation toward comprehensive and sustainable development, inspiring a strong national spirit and aspirations for a prosperous, strong, and happy nation, she stated./.
