Vietnam’s information and communication technologies (ICT) sector willbe dominated by five technological trends in the time to come, acomputing expert has predicted.
Chu Tien Dung, Chairman ofthe Ho Chi Minh City Computer Association (HCA), told a seminar in HCMCity on September 20 that the complex trends - bearing the technicalterms cloud computing, big data, mobile computing, social networks andthe Internet of Things – are becoming increasingly important in Vietnamand can help boost the application of ITC products in all sectors.
The seminar, themed “Vietnam Information and CommunicationTechnologies Outlook,” has provided an opportunity for relevantorganisations and businesses to share their viewpoints on Vietnam’s ICT preparations ahead of the country’s integration into the ASEAN EconomicCommunity by 2015, he said.
Sharing Dung’s views, Nguyen HongMinh, Director of the Vietnam Data Communication Centre 2, said thegrowing trends, especially cloud computing, will create an effectivefoundation for businesses to rapidly expand their operations.
The annual event also provided a panorama of the country’s present ICTinfrastructure. According to Tran Nguyen Chung from the Ministry ofInformation and Communications, the country’s ICT sector has sustainedits stable growth despite the slow economic recovery.
Heurged ICT businesses to increase their efforts and called for Stateincentives to maintain the sector’s stable and sustainable performancethroughout the remainder of 2013, when the economy is forecast to facemore difficulties.
