Vietnam’s COVID-19 infections cases surpass 44,000

Vietnam logged 1,883 domestically-transmitted COVID-19 infections and 15 imported cases in the past 12 hours to 6:30 pm on July 16, bringing the national tally to 44,186, according to the Ministry of Health.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam logged 1,883 domestically-transmittedCOVID-19 infections and 15 imported cases in the past 12 hours to 6:30 pm on July 16,bringing the national tally to 44,186, according to the Ministry of Health.

Among the locally-infected cases, 1,349 were recorded in HoChi Minh City - the country's current largest pandemic hotspot, 146 in Tien Giang, 113 in Binh Duong, 92 in Dong Thap, 39 in DaNang, 33 in Tay Ninh, 22 in Phu Yen, 15 in Hung Yen, 13 in Vinh Long, 11 in CanTho, 10 in Nghe An, nine in Binh Thuan, seven in Bac Ninh, four in Quang Ngai,three each in Ninh Thuan, Binh Phuoc and Hanoi, two each in Tra Vinh, Ca Mauand Bac Giang, and one each in Thanh Hoa, Lam Dong, Lao Cai, Dak Lak and VinhPhuc.

Of the total, 1,665 cases were detected in quarantinefacilities or sealed-off areas.

The new cases raised the total number of infections recordedin the past 24 hours to 3,336, including 3,321 domestic infections of them 2,420 found in HoChi Minh City alone.

On the day, the country reported 18 more COVID-19 deaths,raising its total death toll to 225, and an additional 332 patients were given theall-clear, bringing the total number of recoveries to 10,020.

Among the active patients, 267 tested negative for thecoronavirus once, 116 twice and 118 thrice.

A total of 4,185,623 COVID-19 vaccine doses have beenadministered so far, with 3,890,947 people getting the first shot and 294,676 othersfully receiving two jabs./.
