Vietnam’s cashew export to China strongly rises

Vietnam raked in 221.47 million USD from exporting over 28,000 tonnes of cashew nut to China in the first half of this year, up 24.8 percent in value and 53.2 percent in volume year-on-year, according to the General Department of Customs.

- Vietnam raked in 221.47 million USD from exporting over 28,000tonnes of cashew nut to China in the first half of this year, up 24.8 percentin value and 53.2 percent in volume year-on-year, according to the GeneralDepartment of Customs.

In June alone, the country exported 6.6 million tonnes of the nut to China, earning51 million USD, up 143.8 percent in volume and 104.2 percent in value comparedto the same period last year.

According to Pham Van Cong, Chairman of the Vietnam Cashew Association, theChinese Government is tightening regulations on export-import via borders between the twocountries.

Vietnamese cashew is popular inchoosy markets such as the US and the EU, and this is paving the way fordomestic exporters to expand markets.

Along with seeking new markets, Vietnam aims tomaintain major ones such as China, the Netherlands, and especially the US,whichconsumes up to 40 percent of the country’s cashew nuts.-VNA
