Vietnam’s border provinces look to boost agricultural cooperation with China's Yunnan
Four northwestern border provinces of Vietnam, namely Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien, have held the first conference on agricultural cooperation with China’s Yunnan province.

Hanoi (VNA) – Four northwesternborder provinces of Vietnam, namely Lao Cai, Ha Giang, Lai Chau, and Dien Bien,have held the first conference on agricultural cooperation with China’s Yunnanprovince.
The event aimed to review bilateralties and identify cooperation directions for the time ahead.
Among the four Vietnameseprovinces, Lao Cai has an over-182km-long borderline and multifaceted relationswith Yunnan. It has also signed and fruitfully implemented several agreementson agricultural partnership with the Chinese side.
Lao Cai's Department ofAgriculture and Rural Development suggested some cooperation activities withits Yunnan counterpart such as transferring cultivation techniques; applyingpreservation and processing technologies; encouraging enterprises to partner inagricultural production, processing, and sale; frequently exchanginginformation about farm produce export and import standards; preventing smuggling;developing multi-purpose forestry plants; and holding training courses.
At the meeting, theVietnamese and Chinese provinces reached high consensus on maintaining exchangeand cooperation, particularly in agriculture, so as to enhance mutual understandingand deal with obstacles hindering their collaboration in a timely manner.
They agreed on the necessityto play a more active role in cooperation; promote ties in crop production,aquaculture, and livestock farming; and increase connectivity to tap into theirpotential and advantages, develop sustainably, and bring about benefit tofarmers./.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade said domestic companies wishing to export starch to China can now register online, as information on starch products coded HS 1108 and 3050 has been updated on China's online overseas food manufacturer registration platform.
