Vietnam’s best sculptures displayed at national exhibition

A national sculpture exhibition opened at the Hanoi Museum on December 11, showcasing the best works created by local artists over the past decade.

The 286 pieces on show are made fromvarious kinds of materials such as bronze, stone, wood, steel and ironand arranged in the form of installation art.

Theexhibits manifest the artisans’ creativity in promoting traditionalvalues in the globalisation process, said Deputy Minister of Culture,Sports and Tourism Vuong Duy Bien.

They featureevery aspect of the daily life such as environmental issues, therelationship between human beings and nature and society, family,friendship, motherhood, peace and war, to name a few.

Human values and life philosophies are vividly reflected through anumber of works such as “Rural Story” by Cu Kao Khai, “Peace on Island ”by Tran Viet Ha, “The Gap” by Huynh Thanh Phu and “Seesaw” by Phan VanTien.

The exhibition, the fifth of its kind, is beingorganised by the Department of Fine Arts, Photography and Exhibition,the Vietnam Fine Arts Association, and the Hanoi Museum .

It will run until January 5 next year.-VNA

♊ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
