VietnamPlus secures second WAN-IFRA award for digital excellence
The award-winning entry, titled “70 Years of Hanoi’s Liberation: A Sacred and Elegant Capital,” was recognised as one of the most prestigious categories of the conference. This is the second time VietnamPlus has received a WAN-IFRA award.

Hanoi (VNA)꧑ - VietnamPlus, the online newspaper of the Vietnam News Agency, has received international recognition for the second time, winning the Best Innovative Digital Product award at WAN-IFRA’s Digital Media Awards Asia 2025 for its interactive 3D feature.
The award-winning entry, titled “70 Years of Hanoi’s Liberation: A Sacred and Elegant Capital,” was recognised as one of the most prestigious categories of the conference. The interactive 3D story was launched to mark the 70th anniversary of Hanoi’s Liberation Day (10 October 1954 – 2024), and is among the first of its kind in Vietnamese journalism. It offers readers a unique and immersive experience, bringing history to life in a vivid and engaging format. The piece allows users to “step into” historical stories using interactive 3D storytelling, whether via mouse scrolls on desktop or swipes on smartphones.
This is the second time VietnamPlus has received a WAN-IFRA award. In 2014, its RapNewsPlus segment won First Prize in the Digital First category, which recognises innovative approaches to engaging young audiences through digital devices such as mobile phones and tablets.

The Vietnam News Agency (VNA) won two first prizes at the Organisation of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) Awards 2024, at the 54th OANA Executive Board Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on February 17. The first prize in the article category was awarded to the piece titled “Bau vat truyen doi tu dan ong rung” (Beeswax: a timeless treasure from wild bees) by the authors Quynh Trang, Bang Cao, Luong Thu Huong, while the first prize for the photo report went to An Thanh Dat for his work titled “Doc dao vat cau nuoc lang Van ” (the unique mud ball wrestling festival in Van village).
Vietnam News Agency’s special anti-fake news project was named Best Project for News Literacy within the Asian Digital Media Awards 2020 by the World Association of News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) at WAN-IFRA’s Digital Media Asia 2020 event on October 15.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
