Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnameseathletes will take part in the Senior Asian Wrestling Championship in New Delhi,India, from February 18-23.
The tournament at the KD Jadhav Stadium willkick off with the Greco-Roman competitions which are scheduled for the firsttwo days, and then followed by freestyle events.
The championships are a qualifier for theTokyo Olympics, with the two top teams qualifying for the Games this summer
After the continental tournament, Vietnamesewrestlers will take part in a world qualification tournament in April inBulgaria. The top four teams from this event will also head to Tokyo./.
Three Vietnamese weightlifters have been named in the rankings for the Tokyo Olympic 2020 qualifiers by the International Weightlifting Federation thanks to their performances at the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 2019) in the Philippines.
Vietnam’s weightlifters bagged 10 gold medals on the two competition days of the recent 2020 Weightlifting World Cup in Rome, signalling a good start for the sport in the year, according to the Vietnam Sports Administration.
