The award aims to honour Phuong, born in 1924, for her contributions to developing the Vietnam – France relations.
From 1964-2009, Phuong helped organise for 28 French film makersdelegations to visit Vietnam. She also brought many Vietnameseartists to France to hold exhibitions.
During the past 30 years, she works as a translator and writer to introduce Vietnam to French readers
The National Order of Legion of Honour is the noblest order of Franceand was inaugurated by Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte on May 19, 1802 tohonour individuals and organisations for their great contributions toFrance as well as relations between France and other nations./.
