Vietnam’s seafood exports remained heavily dependent on natural sources, which have become increasingly difficult to secure due to tightening regulations and limited local marine farming, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Tuna exports brought home 693 million USD during the first 10 months of 2023, falling 22% year on year and ranking third among aquatic products, reported the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Vietnam gained 13.3 million USD from exporting tuna to Italy in the first half of 2019, a year-on-year surge of 60 percent, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP).

Vietnam enjoyed a year-on-year surge of 88 percent in tuna exports to Israel in October with 2.7 million USD, according to the Vietnam Association of Seafood Producers and Exporters.

Vietnam’s tuna export revenue is likely to reach the target of 500 million USD in 2018 as the figure already hit 351 million USD in the first seven months of this year, while growth has been seen in the majority of markets.
