Hanoi (VNA) – Trinh Linh Giang hasclimbed up the ATP world ranking to stand at No 1,637, the ATP’s announcement hasrevealed. Giangjumped 439 steps thanks to his second-round berth at the Thailand F6 Men’sFuture in late December. His seniorteammate Ly Hoang Nam also climbed up six steps compared to last week and nowranks No 641. Nam entered the second round of the singles category andquarter-finals of the doubles class at the Thai competition. AnotherVietnamese, Nguyen Hoang Thien, who did not take part in any tournament lastmonth, dropped two steps to No 1,442. There isno woman tennis player from Vietnam on the WTA’s ranking list. On top ofthe ATP list was Andy Murray of Great Britain, who maintained his No 1position. He is followed by Novak Djokovic of Serbia and Milos Raonic fromCanada. Nguyen Hoang Thien has reached his best ranking of 1,426 in the world according to the latest release of the Association of Tennis Professionals on Monday.
Vietnam’s top tennis player Ly Hoang Nam dropped four places on the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP)’s latest men’s singles rankings to the 662nd position.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
