Vietnamese teams win 2020 ASEAN Student Contest on Information Security

Hanoi (VNA) – HCMUS.Twice, a student team fromthe University of Natural Science under the Vietnam National University, Ho ChiMinh City (VNU-HCM), triumphed the final round of the 2020 ASEAN StudentContest on Information Security on November 28.
The finale brought together ten teams from Vietnam and sixothers from ASEAN member states whose ability were tested on how to mountcyber-attacks against their opponents and to defend their own computer networkswithin a duration of eight hours.
HCMUS.Twice won the first prize with 6,900 points. NotEfiens from the VNU-HCM’s University of Technology and AmongUs from FPTUniversity, Hanoi shared the second prize.
The third prize was claimed by MSEC_ADC from the MilitaryTechnical Academy, Pawsitive from the VNU-Hanoi’s University of Engineering andTechnology, ISIT-DTU1 from Duy Tan University, and PTIT.Infern0 from the Postand Telecommunications Institute of Technology, Hanoi.
The competition was organised by the Vietnam InformationSecurity Association (VNISA) as part of a series of events to mark the VietnamInformation Security Day.
The contest has been held annually in Vietnam for the last13 years, said Vu Quoc Khanh, VNISA Vice Chairman, adding that this is the second year itwas held among ASEAN nations.

A total of 121 teams from 31 Vietnamese colleges and universities and 37 teams from those in six other ASEAN member states will kick off the starting round of the 2020 ASEAN Student Contest on Information Security on October 17.
Pawsitive of the University of Engineering and Technology under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi excellently surpassed rivals to gain the first place at the ASEAN Student Contest on Information Security 2020’s qualifier on October 31.
