Vietnamese students win prizes at int’l maths and science contest

Twelve Vietnamese students, all from Hanoi, who entered the 2017 International Mathematics and Science Olympiad (IMSO) in Singapore have won prizes.

– Twelve Vietnamesestudents, all from Hanoi, who entered the 2017 International Mathematics andScience Olympiad (IMSO) in Singapore have won prizes.

According toDirector of Hanoi Department of Education and Training Chu Xuan Dung, Vietnamclaimed two gold, three silver and one bronze medals for maths and one gold andfive silvers for science.

This was the first time the country had won goldin the science category, he added.

The IMSO 2017 took place in Singapore onNovember 20-24, themed “Smart, Skilled, and Creative in a Joyful Competitionfor Excellence.”

It aims to develop elementary school students’talent and interest in mathematics and science, motivate them to develop theirintellectual capacity and skills, and foster friendly internationalrelations.-VNA
