Vietnamese high school students will be introduced to Maori art and culture during the New Zealand Education and Culture Roadshow, which runs until September 25. A Maori troupe from the New Zealand Maori Arts and Crafts Institute will visit schools in Hanoi, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City, together with representatives from the New Zealand Embassy, education and tourism ministries, to showcase opportunities to travel to and study in the country.
The event will involve performances by the Maori troupe as well as ice-cream and kiwi fruit tasting sessions.
"Maori culture is a fascinating and unique part of New Zealand's culture," New Zealand Ambassador Haike Manning said. "It's something that sets us apart from others. The visit by this performance group is a great opportunity to showcase Maori culture to Vietnamese students to raise their awareness and interest in our country." It's a part of the New Zealand – Open to the New season organised by the New Zealand Embassy to celebrate 40 years of friendship and diplomatic relations between New Zealand and Vietnam.-VNA
