Moscow (VNA) – Vietnamesestudent Cao Dinh Thang recently won a third prize at a music festival in Russiafor wind instruments.

An award ceremony was held at the GnessinRussian Academy of Music in Moscow, Russia on December 18.

Thang, currently a fourth yearstudent at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, won in the category of windensemble harmonisation. Meanwhile, the second prize went to two Russiancontestants and no first prize was awarded.

In an interview with the Vietnam NewsAgency, Assoc. Prof. Igor Nikolaevich Savinov of the Moscow TchaikovskyConservatory, said Thang’s performance is a huge achievement as no first prizewas awarded.

In early December, Thang won secondprize in a piano composition contest.

Launched in 2013, the music festivalaims to improve training quality and update new pedagogy in music educationestablishments, as well as share achievements of young musicians.

An array of activities was heldwithin the framework of the festival, including a composition contest and aroundtable with the participation of leading experts. -VNA
