Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese pianist Luu Duc Anh, a student of Malmo Music Academyin Sweden, has won the first prize at the 6th International Music Competition2017, in the 19-30 year-old category.
Thecontest, held between May 25 and 28, drew 300 pianists from various countries,including Russia, Germany, China, the US and Norway, who competed across fivedifferent age groups.
Anhis a post-master student at the Swedish academy and is guided by Prof HansPalsson. In Vietnam, he was trained by noted musician Prof Tran Thu Ha and hisfather, Prof Luu Quang Minh.
Bornin 1993 in Hanoi, the 24-year-old started learning to play the piano at a youngage, under his father’s guidance. After finishing an intermediate course at theVietnam Music Academy, he got his university degree and a master’s degree atthe Royal Conservatory of Liege in 2013 and 2015, respectively.
Anhhas won various honours, including a first prize at the Andree Charlier contestheld in Belgium in 2016, and a second prize at the Leopold Godowsky pianocontest held in Poland in 2014.
In2015, he was among the top five students selected from Liege Academy to jointhe Classic Academy contest held by Liege Symphony Orchestra.
Hehas also performed at many shows in Belgium, France, the Netherlands,Switzerland and Japan, and joined the Masterclass along with noted pianistssuch as Dang Thai Son, Avedis Kouyoumdjian and Tibor Szasz.-VNA
