Vietnamese photographer wins first prize at int’l photography award

Hanoi (VNA) - A photo titled “Matrix of boats” taken by localphotographer Cao Nguyen Vu took the first place title at the Hamdan BinMohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum international photography award (HIPA).
The photo shows boats anchored in the central province of Quang Ngai as theyseek shelter from typhoon No. 9 in 2020, reported Radio the Voice of Vietnam(VOV).
The 38-year-old photographer came first in the nature’s general colourcategory, thereby receiving a cash prize totaling 15,000 USD.
The annual photo contest HIPA was first held back in 2011 with total prizes ofup to 400,000 USD. The winner of the grand prize was awarded 120,000 USD./.
The Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCYU) will select five entries to represent Vietnam at an ASEAN youth photo competition whose theme spotlighting solidarity for mutual interest.
The Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) held a ceremony to present awards of the 11th International Art Photo Contest in Vietnam in 2021 (VN-21) and opened an exhibition of entry photos on June 7.
Vietnamese photographers have won 13 medals and certificates of honour in travel, portrait and free categories at the 7th “Two Country Circuit” photo contest 2022.
The Da Lat Photo Club, the Lao Dong communal house in Da Lat city in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, and Youi’s Art Space launched the “Dalat Yersin Photography Awards” earlier this year to bolster exchange in photography and honour Dr Alexandre Yersin (1863-1943), who established the city in 1893.
The ambassador noted that among the 300,000 Vietnamese residing in the RoK, around 3,000 are living in Pyeongtaek and contributing actively to the local economy. Ho expressed his hope that the local authorities will continue support the overseas Vietnamese community in the city.
This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
Quang Duc pottery is known for its wide range of forms, including wine bottles, jars, lime pots, vases, plant pots, incense burners and candle stands. Decorative motifs are equally rich, featuring mythical creatures, pastoral scenes, floral patterns, deer, peacocks, bats and more.

The Vietnamese team will gather on June 26 in Ba Ria-Vung Tau, where they will train until July 14 before departing for Indonesia for the ASEAN U23 Championship 2025, which runs from July 15 to 29. Vietnam will face Laos on July 19 and Cambodia on July 22 in the group stage.
The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
For the first time, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) has granted Vietnam hosting rights for the two championships, including the Asian women’s solo category, which debuts this year as an officially recognised event.
