Vietnamese Party, Government leaders meet Singapore’s PAP chief

Hanoi (VNA) – Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted separate receptionsin Hanoi on June 29 for Chairman of the ruling People’s Action Party (PAP) ofSingapore Khaw Boon Wan.
Party leader Trong lauded the valuableassistance the PAP and Singaporean government have provided for the CommunistParty of Vietnam (CPV) in personnel training.
He proposed that the two countries continue implementingtheir strategic partnership and collaborate closely at regional and globalforums, especially the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), theAsia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum and the United Nations.
Khaw, also Coordinating Minister forInfrastructure and Minister of Transport, informed the host of the outcomes ofhis talks with Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’sEconomic Commission Nguyen Van Binh, affirming that the PAP wants to developmulti-faceted ties with Vietnam.
He stressed the PAP will strive to promote thestrategic partnership with Vietam, share experience with the CPV in various areasand cooperate with Vietnam to successfully host APEC meetings and implement theASEAN Community.
Meeting the PAP leader the same day, PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on the two countries to fully tap the mutallysupplementary strengths of the two economies via the Framework Agreement onVietnam-Singapore Connectivity.
Vietnam needs Singapore’s assistance to joinglobal supply chains and attract investment in infrastructure and environment,he said.
Khaw said Singapore attaches importance toties with Vietnam, particularly in investment and the building of hi-techzones, software parks and aviation.
Singapore will continue partnering withVietnam at regional and global forums and support Vietnam’s hosting of the APECSummit, he said, adding that as Chair of ASEAN in 2018, Singapore will joinhands with Vietnam and other ASEAN members to build a strong, united andprosperous ASEAN Community.
During the stay, the PAP delegation held aworking session with Party Central Committee member and Transport MinisterTruong Quang Nghia, visited the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in thenorthern province of Bac Ninh and met representatives from the Party CentralCommittee’s Organisation Commission, the Vietnam Women’s Union and the CentralCommittee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union.-VNA
