Hanoi (VNA) –The Vietnamese National Assembly always treasures the relationship with its Laocounterpart and supports the Lao NA at international forums, stated NA ViceChairwoman Tong Thi Phong during her talks with visiting Lao NA Vice ChairmanSengnouane Xayalat in Hanoi on July 17.

Phong congratulatedLaos on the country’s achievements in both internal and external affairs after morethan two years of implementing the resolution of the 10th NationalCongress of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.

She briefed the guestson major activities of the NA of Vietnam, including the adoption of seven lawsduring the NA’s fifth session recently, results of supervision programmes andquestion-and-answer sessions along with the NA’s programme on building law andordinance in 2019.

She clarified that inexternal activities, Vietnam pursues the policy of multilateralising anddiversifying international relations, being a friend and a reliable andresponsible partner in foreign relations, contributing to peace, cooperationand development in the region and the world.

The NA Vice Chairwomanshowed her hope that the legislative bodies of both countries will continuestrengthening the supervision over the implementation of signed agreements and creatingoptimal conditions for the growth of ties between the two Parties andcountries.

For his part,Sengnouane Xayalat said that his visit aims to promote the traditional tiesbetween the two countries and bolster the partnership between the two legislativebodies.

The Lao NA ViceChairman informed his host that during the recent sitting, the Lao NA discusseda number of issues related to poverty reduction, some major projects and a reporton socio-economic development in the first six months of 2018 as well as anumber of orientations and tasks for the rest of the year.

He said he hopes theVietnamese side will share with Laos experience in external affairs. The twosides should increase the exchange of delegations at high and local levels,while continue supporting each other at parliamentary forums, he added.-VNA
