Vietnamese ministry assists Laos to build village police stations
The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will help its Lao counterpart build 287 village police stations in the time ahead, with construction of the first one starting on November 12.

Vientiane (VNA) –The Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security will help its Lao counterpartbuild 287 village police stations in the time ahead, with construction of thefirst one starting on November 12.
The first police stationbuilt under the cooperation is located in Na Thon village of Khamkeut district,the border province of Bolikhamxay.
Speaking at theground-breaking ceremony, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Public Security Lt. Gen. Nguyen Duy Ngoc saidthe construction of the police station in Na Thon village is an importantinitial step for the rapid building of similar stations in villages along the twocountries’ shared borderline as in line with their ministries’ agreement.
He asked the Public Security Departmentof Ha Tinh province and contractors to keep close coordination with the policeof Bolikhamxay to ensure the building progress andthe best quality so as to put the Na Thon police station into use assoon as possible.
The official also requestedefforts to complete the construction of the remainders in 2021 as ordered bythe Vietnamese and Lao ministers.
Appreciating the Vietnameseministry’s assistance, Lao Deputy Minister of Public Security Lt. Gen. ThonglekMangnomek said the support demonstrates the special solidarity between the twoministries, as well as between the two countries, especially when Vietnam isalso facing numerous difficulties caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He pledged to put thepolice stations to good use so as to maintain security in border areas and contribute to the combat against transnational drug crimes, thereby contributing tothe special solidarity and traditional friendship between the countries.
The same day, the Vietnameseministry’s delegation led by Deputy Minister Ngoc held talks with theircounterpart led by Thonglek Mangnomek. They reviewed bilateral cooperation andagreed to enhance ties, particularly in the drug fight in their border areas,in the time ahead.
