Tokyo (VNA) 💟– A forum featuring Vietnameseintellectuals in Japan will be held in Tokyo on November 16 with the theme“Make in Vietnam – Opportunities and Challenges”.

The event will be jointly organised by the Vietnamese AcademicNetwork in Japan (VANJ), the Vietnamese Professionals in Japan (VPJ) and the Vietnamese Youth and Student Associationin Japan under the auspices of the Vietnamese Embassy in thecountry.

As the first event of its kind in Japan, the forum aims to connect and create avenue for Vietnamese intellectuals in the country to discuss problems facingVietnam in implementing the “Make in Vietnam” strategy.

Speaking at a press conference, Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan Vu Hong Namspoke highly of the initiative for holding the forum, stressing that there arenumerous excellent intellectuals in the Vietnamese community in Japan and theircoordination with agencies in the homeland will create greater collective strengthfor Vietnam’s development.

Participants will focus their discussion on issues related to technology, urbanplanning, environmental protection and human resources development, thus pointingout opportunities and challenges in the “Make in Vietnam” strategy.

According to the Japanese Ministry of Justice, about 350,000 Vietnamese expatsare living, studying and working in Japan, with more than half of them scientists,researchers in universities and institutes and experts at Japan’s leading firms,as well as entrepreneurs in various fields.

Recently, many independent organisations like VANJ, VPJ and VYSA have beenestablished, requiring a joint forum to enhance connection, thus giving measuresfor developing the Vietnamese community in Japan, and contributing to the homeland’sdevelopment.-VNA
