Vietnamese, Indonesian political parties bolster ties

A Vietnamese official has expressed his hope that leaders of Indonesia's Golkar Party will continue promoting cooperation with the Communist Party of Vietnam, thus contributing to the freshly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

Jakarta (VNA) - Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Chairman of the Central Theory Council and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (HCMA), held meetings with several political parties and the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) of Indonesia on March 11.

The meetings took place as part of Party General Secretary To Lam's state visit to Indonesia and official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat from March 9 to 11.

Meeting Meutya Viada Hafid, vice chairwoman of the Golkar Party and Minister of Communications and Digital Affairs, Thang congratulated the party on its impressive results in the 2024 parliamentary elections, as well as its role in the ruling coalition of President Prabowo Subianto.

He highlighted the significance of the strong relationship between the Golkar Party and the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), expressing his hope that Golkar leaders will continue promoting cooperation, thus contributing to the freshly established Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

The two sides exchanged views on potential areas of collaboration, particularly communications and digital transformation, to enhance connectivity, share experiences, and promote bilateral cooperation in the digital age. They also discussed the possibility of signing a memorandum of understanding between the two parties to establish a framework for enhancing cooperation in specific areas such as the exchange of diplomatic personnel, training, and capacity building.

On March 10, the Vietnamese official had a meeting with a delegation from the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P), led by Ahmad Basarah, a member of the leadership board in charge of external affairs.

Speaking highly of the traditinal relations between the PDI-P and the CPV, along with the PDI-P's role in Indonesia’s political system, Thang asked both sides to continue fostering their friendship and contribute more to elevating the countries' cooperation, especially as the bilateral ties enter a new phase of development.

He also emphasised the importance of promoting comprehensive collaboration in areas such as politics, economy, science and technology, leadership and management training, as well as connectivity between the two business communities.

Ahmad Basarah congratulated Vietnam on its recent socio-economic achievements, hoping that the two sides will maintain collaboration and step up the sharing of development experiences.

The same day, Thang met with NIPA Chairman Muhammad Taufiq, who showed his belief that the visit by Party General Secretary To Lam and his spouse will help reinforce the longstanding cooperative relationship between the two countries in general, and also provide an opportunity for the HCMA and the NIPA to further enhance their connections.

The Vietnamese official pointed out the potential for bilateral cooperation in training, scientific research and policy consultancy. He affirmed that promoting cooperation between the two establishments will not only help enhance the capacity of personnel, but also increase mutual understanding and the exchange of experiences in national governanc🐈e./.
