Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnamese communities around the globe have organied vibrant Lunar New Year (Tet) celebrations, showcasing diverse activities for the country's most important festival of the year.

In China, over 200 people attended the Xuan Que Huong (Homeland Spring) cultural event on January 22, where Vietnamese Ambassador to China Pham Thanh Binh highlighted overseas Vietnamese (OVs) as an inseparable part of the nation and a key resource for national development.

The diplomat expressed his hope that the Vietnamese community will continue to strengthen solidarity, preserve their national identity, and contribute to the positive development of Vietnam-China relations.

Meanwhile, in Italy, nearly 400 OVs, families with adopted Vietnamese children, and staff from Vietnam's representative agencies in Rome gathered on January 21 to celebrate Tet.

For the first time, the Vietnamese community in Italy enjoyed such a special Tet performance, creating an atmosphere that made them feel as if they were back in their homeland.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy, Duong Hai Hung, praised the flourishing strategic partnership between the two countries. The community, along with the global network of 6 million Vietnamese people, takes pride in their deep affection for the homeland and their shared desire to contribute to the country's ongoing development, he noted.

In Cambodia, Sacombank Cambodia (Saigon Thuong Tin Commercial JSC) marked Tet by distributing 500 gift packages to disadvantaged households in Svay Rieng province on January 22. Each package, worth 80,000 KHR (19.78 USD), was given to Cambodian families and those of Vietnamese origin in need, spreading warmth and festive cheer.

In recent days, the Vietnamese Embassy, along with the Vietnamese Consulates General and business communities in Cambodia, has organised several gatherings and Tet gift presentations to support Vietnamese people facing hardships.

These celebrations reflect the strong bond among Vietnamese people worldwide and their deep connection to their homeland during the Lunar New Year festivities./.
