Vietnamese female golfer Nguyen Thao My has won a berth at theOptimist International Junior Golf Championships, to be held in Florida,the United States, from July 16 to 31.
The event will be held at PGA National Resort and Spa, Palm Beach Gardens.
The 17-year-old ranked fourth in the 15-18 age group in the qualifying round in Thailand in March.
Contestantswill compete in the 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 and 16-18 age groups for boys,and in the 10-12, 13-14 and 15-18 age groups for girls, with My playingin the 15-18 category.
The event is one of the premier tournaments in the world for outstanding junior golfers from the US and nearly 30 countries.
Withan expanded format to allow more participants, it features aninternational field and is ranked by both Golfweek and the Junior GolfScoreboard.
My, who is currently participating in a trainingcourse at the Green Valley golf club in Thailand and pursuing herstudies at the American International School in Bangkok, won the 2014National Women's Open Golf Championship.
