Vietnamese garments strengthen foothold in Europe’s high-end market

Paris (VNA)🅺 – Vietnam’s textile and garment industry has made its mark in Europe’s premium segment by joining Paris Première Vision 2025 – an international fashion trade fair in France.
The Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) along with eight leading Vietnamese enterprises attended the event that was held from September 16–18 at the Paris Nord Villepinte Exhibition Centre.

Truong Van Cam, Vice Chairman and Secretary-General of VITAS, stressed that Europe, and particularly France, remains an untapped market for Vietnamese garments. While European buyers impose rigorous requirements on sustainability, supply chain transparency, labour practices, and environmental standards, he noted these challenges also present opportunities for Vietnamese firms seeking to diversify markets amid difficulties in the US market.
Le Minh Phuong, Senior Specialist at the France–Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIFV), said the organisers of Première Vision highly value Vietnam’s potential as a supplier for the European market. She emphasised that Vietnamese sportswear, denim, and textile accessories are increasingly aligned with European consumer trends.
Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang highlighted that Vietnamese businesses have adapted well to the EU’s evolving standards, particularly by developing eco-friendly products.
This year’s trade fair attracted more than 1,500 exhibitors and around 70,000 visitors. Its central theme - Innovation & Technology - underscored the role of creativity and advanced solutions in promoting sustainable development./.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Vietnam’s domestic market is backed by a young population, rising incomes, and growing consumer demand for quality, style, and brand recognition.
To meet the ambitious annual target of 47–48 billion USD, the sector must now achieve monthly exports of over 4 billion USD during the remaining months of the year.
Experts said adopting a circular economy in the sector aims at eliminating raw materials and microfiber pollution, increasing product lifecycles, recycling efficiently, utilising efficient raw materials and fuels, and transitioning to renewable energy. The foundation, they stated, lies in the removal of raw materials and plastic microfiber emissions.
With the new logistics hub, instead of transporting goods to various sites, businesses could save their time and transport costs by having irradiation and cold storage at the same place, helping reduce the risk of supply chain disruption.
The sector has also become increasingly attractive to investors, with major projects like Cai Mep – Thi Vai, Lien Chieu, Lach Huyen, and other regions grabbing strong interest from both domestic and foreign investors, underscoring the seaport system's appeal.
Highlighting the huge potential for collaboration in the areas of economy, trade, and investment, Thang called on Italian businesses to contribute expertise, capital and credibility to support Vietnam’s pursuit of green and sustainable finance, high technology and innovation-driven growth.
