The fishermen were on board the fishingvessel BTh 96059 while it sank at the area 260 nautical miles offVietnam’s southern Vung Tau coast on March 25. They were saved bySingapore ship PU2008 and taken to Bangkok.

On March 30, they were received by the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, and provided with accommodation and food.

Also on March 31, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue CoordinationCentre was informed that Singapore’s ship MTM Princess had saved twopeople in distress around 40 nautical miles off southern Kien Giangprovince’s Tho Chu island. The two were identified as fishermen on boardship Phuc Huy, who had fallen into the sea on March 30.

The captain of the MTM Princess said that his ship is scheduled to be anchored at Thailand’s Mataphut port on April 1.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs assigned the Vietnamese Embassy inThailand to send representatives to the port to coordinate withThailand’s relevant offices to help the fishermen come back home as soonas possible.-VNA
