Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese Embassy in the United States hasrecently held a get-together for nearly 300 Vietnamese people living in thecountry to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, which fallsin mid-February this year.
Addressing the event, Ambassador Pham Quang Vinh wishedoverseas Vietnamese a new year of happiness and prosperity.
He informed them of Vietnam’s new developments, thanking fortheir sentiments towards the homeland and their contributions to the country’sgrowth and its comprehensive partnership with the US.
Vinh affirmed that in the context of the US’s newadministration, the bilateral ties continue to develop in all fields and see newcooperation opportunities, especially after Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc’sUS visit in May 2017 and US President Donald Trump’s visit to Vietnam to attendthe APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in November 2017.
In 2018, the two countries will work together to deepen therelations as well as regional and international cooperation, for the interestsof each country, and for peace and prosperity in the Asia-Pacific region andthe world, he added.
On February 4, over 400 Vietnamese people living in theUnited Kingdom and international friends gathered at the Vietnamese Embassy inthe country to welcome the Year of the Dog.
