Hanoi (VNA) – Representatives from the Embassy, other offices and businessesof Vietnam, and the Vietnamese community in Cambodia offered incense and laid flowers at theVietnam-Cambodia Friendship Monument in Phnom Penh on February 15 on theoccasion of the lunar New Year (Tet) festival.
They paid tribute to Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and expertswho laid down their lives for Cambodia's struggle for national liberation.The sacrifice helped the country escape from the Khmer Rouge genocidal regime, thuscontributing to consolidating and developing the special friendship and solidaritybetween the two people.
Also on February 15 or the last day of the lunar year, Le BaHung, a Vietnamese expat and Director of Chak Angre General Hospital in PhnomPenh, and several Vietnamese sponsors granted 20 sets of tables and chairs to aprimary school for children of overseas Vietnamese, and Tet gifts to over 170 Vietnamesehouseholds living in difficulties in Cambodia.
One day earlier, the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia held aget-together for the Vietnamese community living in the country.
Ambassador Ngo Duc Manh extended his New Year wishes to thecommunity, and hailed their role in nurturing the Vietnam-Russia comprehensivestrategic partnership.
Participating Vietnamese people were treated to traditional dishes such as Chung cake (a traditional cake made of glutinous rice dedicated to the Lunar New Year), nem (spring roll) and pickledwelsh onion.
On February 13, a similar event was organised by the Vietnamese Embassy inthe Czech Republic, which is home to about 100,000 Vietnamese people.-VNA

A hub for sharing best practices, the event aims to forge solutions for financial sustainability, public media contracts, audience engagement, content innovation, and newsroom restructuring. It is also a moment for Vietnam’s media to accelerate its progress and figure out what the “revolutionary press” means in a new era.
From “Thanh nien”, Vietnam’s first revolutionary newspaper founded by Nguyen Ai Quoc (later President Ho Chi Minh) on June 21, 1925, the revolutionary press has remained devoted to its sacred missions -accompanying the nation, serving the Fatherland, and working for the people.

A master plan on implementation of recommendations accepted by Vietnam under the fourth cycle of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) took effect on June 17.
