Vientiane (VNA) – A delegation of the Vietnameseembassy in Lao led by Ambassador Nguyen Ba Hung on April 5 visited the officeof the Lao Foreign Ministry in Vientiane to extend greetings on the occasion ofBun Pi May, the traditional New Year of Laos, which will fall on April 14-16.

On behalf of the Vietnamese Government, Ambassador Hungexpressed best wishes to Lao Foreign Minister Saleumxay Kommaith and handed himthe New Year greetings letter from Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign MinisterPham Binh Minh.

The diplomat availed himself of the occasion to thank theLao minister and his staff for their constant support, help and facilitationfor the Vietnamese embassy to accomplish its tasks. He said he is glad to seethe practical fruits of the special Vietnam – Laos relations, and affirmed thatVietnam is actively realising bilateral high-level agreements.

For his part, the Lao minister thanked the Vietnamesediplomat and asked him to convey his gratitude to Deputy Prime Minister andForeign Minister Pham Binh Minh for sending the letter. This reflects therelations of brotherhood and comradeship between the two ministries inparticular and the two countries in general, the minister stressed.

He also affirmed the Lao Foreign Ministry will continueclosely collaborating with the Vietnamese embassy to effectively implement theagreements and commitments of high-ranking leaders of the two countries, pushingup and broadening cooperation opportunities, thus helping further strengthenthe relations of great friendship and special solidarity between the twocountries.-VNA
