Algiers (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Nguyen Thanh Vinh and representativesof other Vietnamese agencies in the country on March 8 paid floral tribute to 15Algerian journalists and technicians who died in a plane crash in Vietnam in1974.
The Algerianjournalists and technicians, together with nine Vietnamese journalists and threecrew members, were accompanying the thenPresident of Algeria Houari Boumediene on a Vietnam visit, when their planewent down in Hanoi’s suburban district of Soc Son on March 8, 1974.
A memorial stele forthe victims was built on a road named “Journalists of Vietnam, March 8, 1974”in Hydra district, Algiers.
Amonument was also inaugurated in Soc Son in October 2000 during the visit toVietnam by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika in memory of the journalistsand technicians./.
Algerian Minister of Tourism and Craft Industry Abdelkader Benmessaoud on July 26 received Vietnamese Ambassador Pham Quoc Tru in Algiers, who came to discuss expanding cooperation between the two countries, particularly in tourism.
