Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnamese community in Poland has held a meeting in Wassaw to welcome the recent ruling of the Permanent Co💮urt of Arbitration (PCA) in The Hague, the Netherlands, and reject China’s groundless claims for waters within the the so-calle🥃d nine-dash line in the East Sea.

At the meeting, deputy head of the Vietnamese Association in Poland Nguyen Van Thai briefed participants of contents and significance of the ruling.
He reviewed stance of international community and public opinion in Poland on the ruling, as well as the support of the Vietnamese community abroad to the safeguard of the national sovereignty over sea and islands. Participants at the meeting also took a moment of silence in memory of those who laid down for the protection of the country’s land, sea and sky.
On July 12, the PCA issued the ruling on the case brought by the Philippines against China’s nine-dash line claim in the East Sea, saying China’s claims to historic rights for waters within the nine-dash line are contrary to the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. The Hague Tribunal also finds no legal basis for China to claim historic rights to resources within the nine-dash line. The country has no historic title over waters of the East Sea . At the same time, China has caused permanent and irreparable harm to the coral reef ecosystem at Truong Sa archipelago, the court said.-VNA
