Guiyang (VNA) – The 15th theoretical workshopbetween the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) and the Communist Party of China(CPC) was opened in Guiyang city, the Chinese province of Guizhou, on July 21.

The Vietnamese delegation was led by Politburomember, Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and head of the CPV CentralCommittee’s Information and Education Commission Vo Van Thuong. The Chineseside was headed by Politburo member, Secretary of the CPC Central Committee’sSecretariat and head of the CPC Central Committee’s Publicity Department HuangKunming.

The two-day event focuses on some regularitiesduring the modernisation of socialism. At its sessions, participants willdiscuss theoretical and practical issues in the building and modernisation ofsocialism in each country.

Earlier, head of the CPV Central Committee’sInformation and Education Commission Vo Van Thuong had a meeting with ZhaoLeji, member of the CPC Politburo’s Standing Committee and Secretary of the CPCCentral Committee’s Discipline Inspection Commission; and held talks with HuangKunming.

The officials informed each other about thesituation of their respective parties and countries and exchanged views onrelations between the two parties and countries in the recent past. 

They discussed orientations for continuing topromote the healthy and stable development of bilateral ties in the time ahead.Participants also talked about ways to step up cooperation and exchange betweenthe CPC’s Information and Education Commission and the CPC’s PublicityDepartment.

Regarding sea-related issues, Thuong asked bothsides to realise well the common perceptions reached by the two parties andcountries’ leaders, including the Vietnam-China agreement on basic principlesguiding the settlement of sea-related issues, and resolve disagreements bypeaceful means and in line with international law, including the 1982 UnitedNations Convention on the Law of the Sea.

He requested China to respect Vietnam’s rightsand legitimate interests at sea in conformity with international law so as notto negatively affect the development of the countries’ relations.-VNA
