Vietnamese, Chinese localities foster ties

A village in Lao Cai province of Vietnam and a community in China’s Yunnan province have become the first Vietnamese and Chinese localities along the shared border to establish twinning relations.
A village in Lao Cai province of Vietnam and a community in China’sYunnan province have become the first Vietnamese and Chinese localitiesalong the shared border to establish twinning relations.

The ties were set up on August 17 between Coc Phuong village in BanLau commune, Muong Khuong district of Lao Cai, and San Ping Bo communityin Long Bao, Nan Xi town, He Kou district of Yunnan.

The establishment of twinning relations is the result of theinspiration of people of both sides, and also a step to realise theshared policies of the two Parties and States on people-to-peoplediplomacy.

It is expected to help furtherconsolidate the long-standing traditional friendship between the twocountries and the close ties among people living on both sides of theborderline, thus contributing to building a borderline of peace andstability.

Addressing the ceremony, ColonelNguyen Tien Thang from the Vietnam Border Guard High Command urgedpeople in the twinned localities to keep close contact, help each otherwhen difficulties arise, and work together in combating crimes along theborder as well as protect the boundary markers and the borderline.-VNA
