Vietnamese boxers to compete in RoK

Five Vietnamese boxers will take part in tournaments hosted by the Boxing Association of the Republic of Korea and the World Boxing Council in July.

Hanoi (VNA) - Five Vietnamese boxers willtake part in tournaments hosted by the Boxing Association of the Republicof Korea and the World Boxing Council in July.

They are Truong Dinh Hoang, Nguyen Van Hai, Nguyen Van Duong, Vu Thanh Dat andTran Duc Tho – the best Vietnamese boxers at the moment.

They will be coached by Australian legend Dave Hedgcock and formerInternational Boxing Federation Pan Pacific champion Ben McCulloch.

The Republic of Korea (RoK) has not yet named their athletes.

Boxing is well developed in the RoK, which is cooperating withVietnam in both amateur and professional disciplines. In 2018, Korean boxerstook part in a friendly tournament hosted by Vina Boxing Club in Dong NaiProvince.

Vietnam will organise an event in 2020 and the RoK will be invited.- VNA

✤ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.
