Vietnamese books on show in Paris

A book exhibition entitled “Vietnam Nowadays” opened at the Vietnam Culture Centre in Paris, France, on Oct. 22.
A book exhibition entitled “Vietnam Nowadays” opened at the Vietnam Culture Centre in Paris, France, on Oct. 22.

Ondisplay are over 300 book titles about history, literature, gastronomyand children published by nine publishing houses and two bookdistributors of Vietnam .

Noteworthy are twohistorical novels “Eight Dynasties of Ly Kings” and “Stormy TranDynasty”, compiled by Hoang Quoc Hai in 20 years and published in 2010on the occasion of the millennial anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

Addressingthe opening ceremony, Head of the Vietnamese delegation to the UNESCO,Ambassador Duong Van Quang, expressed his hope that the event would helpoverseas Vietnamese to have better understanding about culture,national renewal and international integration of Vietnam .

He stressed the need to accelerate the publication of Vietnamese books translated into French language.

The exhibition will run until Oct. 29./.

⛄ Vietnam re-elected to 2005 UNESCO Convention’s Intergovernmental Committee

This is the first time since the adoption of the Convention that a country has served two consecutive terms on the Committee. The outcome shows the trust and recognition that member states have given Vietnam for its efforts and achievements in carrying out and promoting the Convention, as well as for its active role, strong standing, and growing credibility at UNESCO.

The exhibition showcases more than 100 valuable documents and artifacts, divided into two main parts: “Journalist Nguyen Ai Quoc – Ho Chi Minh” and “President Ho Chi Minh – Founder and Mentor of Vietnamese Revolutionary Press.” This is an opportunity to recall the late leader’s journalism journey and affirm his exceptional role in founding and guiding the revolutionary press in Vietnam.
