Vietnam wins “World’s Best Golf Destination” for first time
Vietnam won the “World’s Best Golf Destination 2019” and “Asia’s Best Golf Destination 2019” awards at the World Golf Awards (WGA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 29.

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam won the “World’s Best Golf Destination 2019” and “Asia’s BestGolf Destination 2019” awards at the World Golf Awards (WGA) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on October 29.
Thiswas the first time Vietnam has secured the “World’s Best Golf Destination” awardbut the third time in a row the country has gained the “Asia’s Best Golf Destination”award.
The WGA has been heldannually since 2014 and evaluated as the most prestigious award in the golftourism industry.
Voting for the awardslasted from February 21 to September 15 this year. Votes were cast byprofessionals working within the industry, travel operators as well as golfersacross the world.
Vietnam has also beennominated besides two other countries, China and Thailand, for the “Best GolfDestination in Asia-Pacific” award, which will be announced in India onNovember 6.
According to the VietnamProfessional Golf Association, there were over 70,000 people playing the gameas a leisure sport in 2018, up from 10,000 in 2009.
Vietnam has more than 30golf courses of regional and international standards and 60 others are to bebuilt by 2020./.
Vietnam has won the “Asia’s best golf destination 2018” at the World Golf Awards, announced the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on November 22.
