Vietnam wins big prizes at APEC Photo Contest 2013

A press release issued by the APEC Secretariat says that the thirdprize of this year’s contest went to “Catching Sunlight” by Tran Van Tuyfrom Vietnam, which is on the theme: Sustainable Growth withEquity.

Also on that theme, “Spinning” by Vo Chi Trung of Vietnam was among the top ten finalists.

Two entries of Vietnamese photographer Vo Thi Xuan Ha, namely“Silhouette Works” (theme: Sustaining the Momentum towards Free and OpenTrade by 2020) and “Concrete Waves” (theme: Improving Connectivity)were among the 10 finalists.

Thepress release quotes Ambassador Yuri Thamrin, Chair of the APEC 2013Senior Officials’ Meeting and one of the judges as saying: “With some600 photos submitted from all over the APEC region, all three imagesuniquely reflect our theme for this year.” The Ambassador added, “Weappreciate the photographers’ interpretation of our work at APEC in away that is both immediately accessible and artistic.”

The first prize winner will receive 2,000 SGD, while second and thirdprize winners will receive 1,500 SGD and 1,000 SGD, respectively. Thesephotos will be showcased during the 2013 APEC Economic Leaders’ Week inBali in October as well as in key APEC publications.-VNA
